These are divided as 213.55 miles under jurisdiction of the State of Ohio Department of Transportation, 371.82 miles under the jurisdiction of the Monroe County Engineers Office and 517.361 miles under the jurisdiction of the the trustees of the 18 townships that make up Monroe County. This office does not particularly have any control over these roads so any questions as to the maintenance and rules regarding these roads should be made to the correct entity. We do however have in our records various forms of information to help one determine basic properties of these roads listed below. Links are highlighted with the description below them.

ODOT Right of Way Plans
These plans given to our office by ODOT contain the original plans of the state roads and the right of ways in various areas of the county. These plans have been amended and altered from the originals to account for changing road layouts and easement needs. Most of these plans only show one particular section of one particular state road and are organized as such.

Miscellaneous Resources

Road Records
These books contain the old surveyors field notes and information on various roads in the county. This information consists mostly of bearings and distances for when the road was first established. In order to find information for a current road in these books you must know the name the road had at the time it was established. Which is not necessarily what it is called currently. Most of the time it was the name of the family that lived on the road or the landmark that the road followed.
